This is not a stroll in the park of social conciliation, it's the class war against the system, against capital, against fascism

It's a strange place, Italy.

In L'Aquila, the earthquake is being used as an excuse to experiment with new forms of social control. In Vicenza, the regime is confirming its nature as a police state, violating its own rules by setting up a military blockade in an attempt to impede an authorised march called by a local residents' committee. The day after, 21 militants, comrades and students are arrested in Turin, Bologna, Padua, Naples and Reggio Calabria for demonstrating against the G8 University Summit. And when students at La Sapienza University in Rome continue their occupation as a protest against the arrests of other students, an anti-G8 march is halted and broken up, with arrests being made.

At the same time, the State and its apparatus seeks to distract attention from the tragedy in Viareggio [1] by carrying out dozens of searches and making two arrests, claiming the usual suspected threat of an anarcho-insurrectionalist attack, this time against the security of the railways! As if it were not the hunt for profit at all costs and the privatisation of public transport which leads to fatal accidents and destruction.

Since the days of the the G8 in Genoa 2001, we have been witnessing the increasing operational autonomy of the police forces, answering directly to the Executive; various governments, both centre-left and centre-right, have gradually increased the State's capacity for repression, leading up to the introduction of the new "Security Packet" [2] which hits everyone - workers, students, Italians and new citizens alike. The ultimate aim of the "packet" is to wipe out all social and trade union opposition struggles, starting with the anti-G8 protests, to root out all class solidarity, and to intimidate all future popular struggles.

Against this repressive, subversive project of the State, we show our fullest solidarity by joining in the chorus "PROTESTING IS NOT A CRIME - FREE THEM ALL!". Standing united with all those who have opposed and who go on opposing the repression, we Anarchist Communists call for class unity and the mobilisation of all grassroots organisations in a NEW RESISTANCE.

"YOU HAVEN'T SCARED US - WE'RE AS DETERMINED AS EVER!"
