FOR A SOCIETY WITHOUT BORDERS
2 APRIL 2005 - EUROPEAN ANTI-RACISM DAY

The first step in winning back the dignity and civility which are being denied by disgraceful, freedom-killing laws is to close the detention centres, stop the deportations, demand the freedom of movement for everyone and promote the freedom to live and work for all migrants instead of the violence and abuse they are currently subjected to. It is a step we must all take together.

"There is strength in unity. Something that organized workers know only too well. It is what gives us the strength to change this world, to create a new one where humans are valued for themselves and not as goods, where the different peoples of the world can make the most of their cultural resources but above all free themselves from capitalist economic oppression and freely self-manage a free and equal society.
For Anarchist Communists, internationalism and solidarity between the peoples of the world are indispensable elements in our theory. From this, we derive our approach to the problems of the relationships between different peoples which is different to the simple solidarity approach which is shared today by various sectors of society and political forces ranging from ex-communists to catholics. The struggle against racism and against inequality is an essential part of the class struggle. For this reason, we encourage the Italian and European anti-capitalist opposition movement to unite in its political action so that there can be a re-birth in the international class-struggle opposition - the only opposition that can bring about a real change in today's society."

The trade in migrants is a business which many deal in: economically - from the national and international mafias which control trafficking in people, assistance and the running of detention centres to the bosses who do not hesitate to exploit men, women and children; politically - from those who stir up racial and religious hatred to those who prophesy cultural or demographic invasions, but also those who in the name of governability propose quotas which are decided on the basis of the needs of entrepreneurs and the market.

We will be in Ragusa demanding the closure of all detention centres.

Because we cannot and must not accept inequality as a system of life, varying levels of rights on the basis of your nationality, the freedom of thought on the basis of the acceptability of your convictions, the right to health on the basis of your sex, the freedom to dress as you like on the basis of your beliefs, the freedom of movement on the basis of where you come from.

Because all limitations on our rights, just as every act of institutional racism or every war between the poor astutely provoked by capital, only ends up in destroying for everyone what has been won so far.

Because any agreement between States which aims to push back the borders in order to make sure that the crimes which occur at the borders are as far as possible from our eyes and our limited ability to solidarize and keep watch, brings us further and further into the midst of barbarism.
